Melbourne restaurants, an epicurian heaven.

Melbourne restaurants.

In Melbourne the population is generally preoccupied with eating food and drinking coffee.

That’s hardly surprising as it is one of the great cities of the world when it comes to eating out.

Australia’s second biggest city is a brilliant example of how different cultural groups can mix together, and this is wonderfully reflected in the multitude of small ethnic restaurants and cafes seen throughout the city and suburbs.

There are now clearly defined food areas, most of them in the inner suburbs and close to the CBD.

Some of them are distinctly ethnic, some are what could be described as “Bohemian”, and others are best described as “modern”, drawing on the influences from lots of different cultures.

People and food all go together to make one wonderful eating experience.

Here you have literally thousands of restaurants, cafes and coffee shops to choose from, and, what’s more, most of them are ethnic.

Some of the restaurants and cafes are up market, some are quite the opposite but they all sit well together and it s a gastronomic delight discovering them.

The other serious food thing that has happened to Melburnians in the past decade is that they have adopted eating outdoors.

Most cafes now have tables and chairs on the footpath, and some of the larger ones have outdoor areas to match those seen in Italy and France.

If you like Greek food then Kouzina Bar & Restaurant at Midlevel Southgate, Southbank is the place for you and if you book from here you might even get a complimentary glass of wine and a free dessert.

If you don t much enjoy Greek food you might like to go to One Fitzroy Street, at, you ve guessed it, 1 Fitzroy Street, Melbourne where you ll find a modern Australian and seafood menu that will make you want to come back again and again.

Here you can get a $25.00 lunch special or 10 off the food bill if you book from here.

Here is a comprehensive list of good Melbourne eateries,

including reviews from previous patrons.

There are, of course, many more wonderful places to eat throughout the length and breadth of this beautiful country, every major town and every small community will have restaurants and caf s which will serve you with quite delicious food, it s just a matter of finding them.

If you would like to view a very comprehensive listing of over 4000 restaurants, caf s and pubs

throughout Oz we have it here but please remember, in order not to be disappointed you must BOOK BEFORE YOU GO.
